Texas Korean War Veterans will hold a commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the start of the war on June 25 near the Korean War Memorial on the northwest side of the Texas State Capitol grounds.
 
The Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans in Houston announced the ceremony and said that Dr. Robert Ivany, Major General, U.S. Army (retired)  and current President of University of St. Thomas in Houston will be the featured speaker, along with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Yun Soo Cho.

    I am trying to find out what division etc.,my dad served in Army was drafted,from Amarillo,Tx.,served in Korean war,was a mortor platoon,achieved Sgt.,battlefield promoted.His name Sgt.Weldon Winfred Singleton.I have no military records other than my memory,..I believe he went to Ft.Sill,OK. for basic training then to a base near San Francisco,then on to Korea.He served 3 yrs.,I think was married to my mother Carlyn D.Singleton(Blackburn for about 10 months before he was drafted into Army.H e spoke of white horse mountain in Korea several times otherwise he did not talk about his service very much.I wish I knew more about what division,etc. about my dad.I am his son David Weldon Singleton.My dad’s first name is my middle name.
